Peter participated in a Tough Truck competition this past Sunday at the Winnebago County Fair. The competition consisted of trucks racing individually through a dirt obstacle course of jumps, sharp corners, etc. The trucks race three times each and the best time wins.
How did Peter do? Well, he came in last place. His truck died immediately after the first jump. Peter decided to jump out of his truck and run the rest of the race. He probably ran a quarter mile in the heat wearing a helmet and neck brace (safety requirement for the competition). Because he was wearing a helmet, he couldn’t really see the ground where he was running and he ended up stepping on a rock or something and spraining his ankle. He finished running the course but now his ankle is swollen and bruised.
Katie has only been to two of Peter’s vehicle related competitions. This one and a demolition derby from many years ago. Similar to yesterday’s competition, Peter’s car died right away during the demolition derby, too. I believe Katie might be bad luck . . . I don’t think we will invite her back
When Sawyer and I pulled in the driveway today, Sawyer saw Pete’s race truck and said, “Daddy Pete’s truck broke. Daddy running.” I burst out laughing.
A final note, Sawyer had a potty training first today. He actually told me that he had to go poopy. He’s never done that before. We rushed to the toilet and he made his poopy. Then he got his candy. Yay for Sawyer!
A final, final note, we had a really fun time at Andi’s baby shower on Saturday. For all of you who were able to attend, thank you for the lovely gifts.

That sounds like a very memorable day for everyone…even Sawyer from the sound of it =) It’s nice that Pete is easy going enough to make lite of a situation like that. Sawyer was so cute on Saturday. You can really tell how much he loves being outside.
Woah! You have a ton of posts since I last visited and commented. I have my RSS feeds for each of my family/friends blogsites I visit. But for some reason, nothing ever popped up for new posts on your site (which it did before), so I never bothered checking your site. I was wondering what was up with you and if you had any new posts and sure enough, you had a ton.
Anyway, I’ve updated myself with all your recent posts now. It’s cute what Sawyer said about his daddy’s truck and his running. It makes us really aware that kids at this young of age do pick up things and pretty much knows what is going on.
We had a lovely time on Saturday for Katie’s shower. We’re glad we went… and saw everyone else on that side of the family
BTW, Jordan loved the boat ride.
Yay, for Sawyer on his potty training. It won’t be long and he’s fully potty-trained. Jordan is fully poopy potty trained. He is pretty much potty trained as well with going pee, except for night time and some of his naps. I do like the seat that you place on a regular toilet better too, than the kids potty chair. Aubrey uses the potty chair now, while Jordan uses the big toilet.
I guess this comment makes up for all the other posts you have that I haven’t commented on.
Sorry, Katie!!!! I meant… Kristy’s baby shower!
peter must be mad . . . that sawyer is potty trained b4 he is
Ryan – It does probably bother him a little but all parents like to see their children excel . . . even if it means they do something better or sooner than their parents.
That’s great that Sawyer is doing so well with his potty training.
He seems to pay a lot of attention to what’s going on around him if he understood that Peter’s truck broke and that’s why he ran.
Maybe next time, Peter’s truck will last longer. Hopefully, next time it will last for at least two jumps
I agree. Don’t invite Katie back to the tough truck competition. Instead, send her here
