Today we celebrated Father’s Day and Peter’s 30th birthday with the Janssen family. Officially, Peter doesn’t turn 30 until the 29th of June but this was the best weekend for getting the family together to celebrate.
We had a picnic lunch of brats, potato salad, chips and lemonade. I made strawberry shortcake for Peter’s birthday and both boys helped blow out the candles. I don’t even think they spit on the cake
All of the guys had a squirt gun fight. Peter pulled out two super soaker guns that we had gotten for our wedding. We’ve used the guns before and they work great. They hold a lot of water and shoot out a lot of water. Everyone (except for myself, Cailey and my mom-in-law) were soaked. Everyone knew they couldn’t shoot the baby with water so Connie and I stayed really close to her
Today was a very fun day.
On Saturday, I bought a new car (new to me, the vehicle is pre-owned). I wanted a vehicle that had the seating of a mini-van but the gas mileage of a car . . . that ends up being a station wagon so that is what I bought. We purchased a 2007 Ford Freestyle. The Freestyle seats six passengers. It was important for me to be able to fit three car seats in the vehicle so that when we watch our nieces and nephew, we can go places. Also, my sis and I can take our kids somewhere without having to drive separate vehicles.
I also wanted a vehicle that got better than 18 mpg which is what my Explorer (SUV) was getting. The Freestlye should get about 24-25 mpg. The Freestyle is also very safe with additional side curtain air bags for the 2nd and 3rd row seats.
One thing I will miss is the 4 wheel drive. I hope that I will be comfortable driving in the snow without 4 wheel drive. Overall, I think I will be very satisfied with this vehicle.
We decided to sell our 1996 Ford Explorer (185,000 miles) by ourselves so if you know anyone that is interested, have them give me a call

Happy Father's Day

Happy Birthday

Grandma Connie and Cailey

Super Soaker!!!!
Happy birthday to Peter! It sounds like you all had a great father’s day/ b-day picnic. The weather was so perfect for outdoor stuff yesterday. We had a nice time at Bay Beach. I had never been there so it was as fun for me as it was for the kids!
How exciting about getting a new car. Jason and I have been looking at vehicles because we expect to have to get another one in the next 1-2 years. I want something with a lot of seats for kids but Jason doesn’t want to get a mini-van. So maybe we should look into something like what you got. It sounds like it would work for both of us and it gets good gas mileage.
I love the pictures. The kids look to cute and Peter looks extreamly happy with that delicious looking strawberry shortcake. Yum!
Happy B-Day to Peter! I’m glad you guys had such a great weekend.
I hope you enjoy your new car! We’ve been casually looking at mini-vans for me….Chad already has one for work and I would love to have something bigger than my car. We don’t exactly need it yet, though, which is why we’re not being too aggressive about it yet.
Happy Brithday, Peter!

It sounds like the everyone had fun, especially the guys. They must have had a blast with playing with the Super Soakers. They got to play like little boys again
The vehicle you bought seems to be nice and spacey. It’ll definitetly come in handy for carpooling.
Rob and I have been looking for a bigger vehicle as well, but the gas price seems to go up with the size of the vehicle. But we know we’ll eventually have to get a bigger vehicle since we’ll eventually need to put 3 carseats in our car as well. But we’ve got some time on our hands. At least 1 1/2 years yet
I hope you find a good buyer and get great deal on the vehicle your selling.
